The $11.6 million Aquatic Center and Early Childhood Learning Center will be home to swimming and diving facilities, as well as serve as home to the Growing Kids Learning Center, the Marshall County Community Foundation and the United Way of Marshall County.
Plans call for a 10-lane pool with seating for more than 350 spectators, day care space, classrooms for pre-kindergarden education, an indoor/outdoor soccer complex and office space.
The project received $2 million from the state’s Regional Cities Initiative and support from the U.S. Department of Treasury’s New Market Tax Credit program, Tax Increment Financing funds and private loans. The new center involves partnership among the city, the Plymouth Community School Corp. and Ancilla College. In addition to the quality-of-life boost the center is anticipated to offer the city, officials say the services offered will help more parents enter the job market.
